Re: I just watched FOOD NETWORK STAR for the first time… anyone else watch?

I was not a fan of the cutthroat kitchen episode either. I also felt the team that had the cowboy was quite happy that he did so badly. When they were sitting in the room after their turn, one of the men made a comment to the cowboy. It just made me think such poor sports. He appeared to be gloating. I do not think the show is good anymore. None of them really stand out to me. I am not sure I would want to watch a show with any of them. The beauty pageant one would be extremely difficult to watch.

I love this show, watch it every year. Right now I like the cowboy.

My friend's niece made it pretty far last year, Nikki Dinki.

BTW - She unfortunately lost her baby girl...she stood up at the last show of the season and was pregnant.

She was my favorite last year and I actually "liked" her on facebook. Her tribute to her lost baby was beautifully done. Sounds like she may have a cookbook in the works, but she didn't outright announce that.

After last year, I no longer watch. They are not looking for somebody who can cook, but somebody with a personality. The fact that the pie guy and that 7 sins guy got so far made it obvious.

Take Nikki for example - she was told something like she didn't have the authority when she talked about food. As if the pie guy was any different? I much preferred the actual different style of eating that Nikki brought - something that is pretty trendy right now. And, at least you could understand the woman from Restaurant Impossible.

Not worth watching a show that you know is only going to annoy you.

Nikki D was a favorite of mine from the beginning of that season. I would be interested in one of her cookbooks. I hope that comes to fruition.

Personally, I'd rather watch a show where someone can cook and teach me (like Nikki) than watch someone with a bold personality.

Chopped is one of my favorite Food Network shows.

I used to love this show, but not so much anymore. It's not the same, and Giada's short dresses and low plunging necklines, make me think it's not really a family show anymore. The dress from the last show, was not appropriate for Food Network at all. I'm surprised they let her wear the things she does.
