Danushka was so arrogant and pretentious...she was hard to watch..I didn't like Penny, the Persian Princess much,either.....The former pageant contestant reminds me of the model Danushka:

I like this show and always watch it, but I wish the winner would actually get some air time. They end up with a show, but it airs only a couple times at off beat hours. Guy is the only one who really made it. He's on like 16 hours a day, he could give up a couple hours.

I watched the 1st/2nd season....the 3rd season had the guy who faked his history to be on the show....I was out after that. Prefer 'Top Chef'. Food Network has too many competition shows...just like MTV not showing videos anymore, Food Network has lost it's original focus. Bummer.

I'd rather just watch an accomplished cook with talent and personality show me how to cook delicious, tasty, healthy, imaginative meals. Or an accomplished decorator show me how to make a room beautiful and workable. No time clocks, no buzzers, no titles, no racing around the studio trying to get things done in an impossible time limit. Silly, and not so much fun any more.
Exactly my thoughts!
I miss HGTV when it was showed how-to decorating, gardening and crafts. I loved that channel back then.

New season of Top Chef coming up soon. I don't recall when but, hopefully, they don't change the name of the show (I hated when they were adding the city name into the show name) and if you have a Season Pass it will pick it up.
I Googled it to find out WHEN, but just got a whole lot of nothing, in terms of the actual air date. sigh

This was part of a well planned well thought out marketing strategy by TVFN-It was believed that to attract more male viewers, they would add more "competitions" as men are more prone to watch competitions than straight out cooking "how to" shows..
It was first seen as "Iron Chef America" an off shoot of the original Japanese show, and well, now, as you can see, almost every show, especially prime time is something competetitive..

I made it through most of the episodes last season but am not watching after tonight....no clear favorite for me and too many contestants....seems very contrived to me this season.

Do you think those judges ever get sick from the weird food they cook?

I agree with other posters. I used to really love the Food Network. You could actually get some good tips on cooking or learn techniques. Now it seems to be either their silly competitions or all Guy F. The only thing I like to watch anymore is Trisha Yearwood or sometimes the Pioneer Woman. At least they show you how to make what they're showing. Stopped watching the competitions, as I think they've made up their mind already who is going to win. And the one who wins may only be on a few times, then they disappear from sight. The southern chick who won last year does have a show on now (Southern at heart) and I find she actually gives good tips.
