I am a city girl and never bought chicken feet before. But I keep hearing what great soup they make. So here I am with a bag of chicken feet/paws and have no idea what to do with them. They have this bright yellow wrinkly skin on them as well as toes. ugh...any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'd bought a chicken and boiled or pressure cooked it cut it up and put in soup or put noodles, onions and vegetables in the stock pot that I boiled the chicken in.

another option is to buy raw chicken tenders cut them up and put in canned soup broth (Swanson) with noodles, onions, carrots, celery, salt and pepper

Don't think I"d went that route.

Re: I Bought Chicken Paws

[ Edited ]

Before Christmas, I went to a self-dog-wash place for a toy, and she had dried duck feet. Apparently they're good for dogs?

I think at some point you have to peel the skin off. I used to get whole chickens from an organic farmer, and could barely do those. Well, they were cleaned and gutted, but not skinned, same as you'd find in a store. Anyway, good luck, hope your stomach is stronger than mine (not very)!

Try searching the 'net?

@summerwind I’ll research. What did I get myself into.

I am a southern country girl.  I remember my grandparents making them fried.  I think granny boiled them until basically cooked, cooled and fried.  I never ate any but fried they were beautiful.

@SandPiper  I just googled it and here is a link which may lead to more links.  I grew up on a farm in Germany and I know we used these for something (nothing was thrown away).  We probably used them to make broth.

I went to a dim sum brunch with some friends.  Chicken feet were served as one of the items.  People were biting them off and chewing.  Makes me gag to think about it.  Do you know what those feet have been scratching and walking in?  LOL

@SandPiper, having given it some thought, I bet they do help a very flavorful broth!  And we don't always skin chicken, and even eat it, so I would guess maybe you don't have to skin the feet? Wish I could remember where I saw that.
