Just discovered that Landies Candies 21-Piece Merry & Bright Collection Pretzels have Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. I'm so disappointed. It produces trans fats which are very bad for your health. " Hydrogenated vegetable oils’ trans fats have been shown to harm heart health. Studies reveal that trans fats can increase levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol while decreasing good HDL (good) cholesterol, both of which are risk factors for heart disease (12Trusted Source).
Other studies link high trans fat intake to a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. From https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/hydrogenated-vegetable-oil#side-effects

The only oils we use for anything is avacado and coconut oil...
We also don't buy processed foods made with any type of vegetable/canola/soybean oils because they cause inflammation.
We choose not to use olive oil because we don't like the taste.

These are in a lot of processed food, so good for you if you don't eat any of that. I had been on the lookout of "partially hydrogenated oil" for some time but just became aware of the fully hydrogenated.

Were you planning on eating a lot...all year long?
I ordered them, but not worried. Will only be eating a few for a short time during the holidays. They'll be gone in no time in my family.
We don't eat like this throughout the year, so no harm done.

@Whosits Those Landies treats are something you only eat once in a while, so I don't see how they could do any real damage, unless you eat other things with hydrogenated vegetable oil. Frankly, a lot of worrying about what's in every single thing you eat might be worse for you in terms of stress. But, I'm no doctor.

Sadly, many chocolates do have these, including Mrs P Apples. And choc covered pretzels, it helps to hold the chocolate onto the pretzel, apple, etc.

@Shelbelle @Whosits The only brand of chocolates we can eat are the Lily's brand. We'll buy the chips for baking and candy bars we eat/share at Amazon or Whole Foods. They are hard to find locally anywhere else.
Due to health issues, DH & I must stay away from certain ingredients.

@Foxxee Well it's bad enough that "The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also banned artificial trans fats from processed foods in the United States. However, this rule doesn’t take full effect until 2020, and hydrogenated vegetable oils are still present in many pre-packaged and processed foods." You and your family may be getting more of it than you think.
