I cook Quaker 1-minute oats in milk in the top of a double boiler. Always takes more than 1 minute but they turn out super creamy. My Mom taught me how to cook them that way.

I love oatmeal and eat almost every morning. I use the instant oatmeal packet, put in a bowl add raisins, cinnamon, or your favorite ingredients, add enough hot boiled water to a slightly liquid consistency, stir, put in microwave for 30 seconds only, let set for about 5 minutes or so to thicken. The instant oatmeal comes out a perfect consistency. Quaker instant oatmeal also contains higher nutritional value.

I only use the steel cut oats. I don't get instant, I feel the cooking makes it turn out creamier and more tasty! I use the huge canisters sold at Costco. Its delicious!
