@DbinMd2 Before I moved permanently to southeast Florida from Chicago, I brought back Indian River oranges on my drive home from Miami. The ones I bought were from the area of Vero Beach. I used them for fresh squeezed juice and couldn't believe how incredible the taste was.
When I ran out, I found a nursery in Kankakee, IL that took delivery of the oranges over the winter. I bought everything they had. I believe truck drivers routinely drove the oranges up from Florida to various places around the country.
I've never had Honeybells but I'm sure their storage is the same as the Indian River brand. The nursery kept them in refrigerated storage until purchased. I had large boxes that would not fit in my refrigerator so I kept them in the garage (it's cold in Chicago). I would bring some in and keep them in the refrigerator produce bin for juicing. None of them spoiled.
