OK, thanks, I will google and try to match a pic for what I remember.  Seriously, they are very good cookies.

Thanks so much for the tip, never in a million years would i think a recipe like this exists online and i printed one out from the old Sunset Cookbooks on Food.

 

It's called Date-Nut Meringues and I think that's it, I believe my grandma left out the nuts for my cookies but now I remember they did have nuts in them....how nice is this!

 

The picture matches perfectly too.
