Just a heads up about our Oster Frenchdoor oven.

I called them to ask what type and size of light I would need to buy when the light goes out. They said if it goes out it goes out you can't replace it.

we better hope it doesn't blow out. Now, if it blows out within the one yr. warranty I think the way she talked we could send it to them and get a replacement.

Just a heads up ! From one Tx. gal to the other. LOL

That's strange.  I'm sure some good DIY person out there could figure it out.  Seems to me if you can take it out, you should be able to replace it.

Did you talke to Oster CS or the Q's?

the cap over the bulb cannot be taken out,  unscrewed,  therefore, the bulb can not be reached.

called the Customer service at Oster

Hmmm, strange.  However, I'm not a heavy user, but the regular oven in my house is original to the house which was built in the late 80's and I haven't had to change that bulb in the 20 years we've been here.  Of course, it doesn't stay on while cooking either.  I don't have a little window to look thru when cooking, so I have to open the door to check on progress which I know is a no no for some foods.

The house I grew up in still had the original oven in it when we sold it last year.  It was built in 1969 and I don't know that the bulb in that oven has ever been changed.  At least it had a little viewing window with a light you could turn on.

I'm praying it holds out for the life of the oven. Main reason I bought this new one was because of the light staying on while cooking and the French Doors and being red

Hey Sharke-  Thanks for the "heads up"!   Darn,  well like you said...we'll just have to hope the light lasts as long as the oven.  That was poor planning by Oster.

Love all your Red stuff!  My last two cars have been Red.

There she is !

Yep, unless somebody can figure out a way around it (unplugged) LOL

Probably come out with another one in less then a yr. with the announcement "such and such replacement bulb you can buy".
