Was cooking in a stainless pan. Didnt realize it was burning and now it is a mess. I have tried soaking in hot soapy water.  Tried boiling on stove with just water, that helps at times.  SOS pad is not helping. Is there any suggestions that might work?

People will usually recommend this, if you have it-

What I have done with casseroles is take a used dryer sheet, soak it in the pan with water overnight, and it's usually enough to release it.

I have used a paste of baking soda, placing on the burned areas, letting it sit, and then rubbing it off  Dependnig on the burned area, you may have to do this a few times.  My husband is a champ for burning my pans and this works though it may take some effort.  Good luck!

Boiling / simmering on stove with baking soda should do it.

Try BarKeepers Friend in a dry pan, it works miracles on stainless steel.

It's a powdered cleanser, but it's very fine.

If that doesn't work try Astonish oven & cookware cleaner (it's an abrasive paste), not sure if QVC still carries it, but BBB does.

All good suggestions here. May have to try each one multiple times.

IF the SS pan is of good quality it will eventually clean up. If not, you may have to toss it and upgrade.

I've used this many times.  Add soapy water, as you did, plus a tsp to tbsp of white vinegar.  Wait about a minute then comes right off.  I've always done this right away so not sure how it works if you add vinegar later on.

Re: Help for Burned Pan

[ Edited ]

I've soaked a pan overnight with baking soda, next day turned over an egg turner and scraped.  The rest was scoured out with steel wool and soft scrub before I could get Bartender's Friend.
