I tried Libby's. On the ingredient list it says: Green Beans, water, pinto beans, and salt. I doctored it up with a little bacon grease then heated them up. I drained them before eating. They were really good!!!!

I have, and I liked them. It has been years since I have had any though.

I'm like happycat, I used to have them a lot, and I'm pretty sure they were Libby's, but I don't think I've noticed them in the stores I shop in a long time. I thought they were good though-I'll have to look closer next time I grocery shop.

Oh yes ! Prepared them just as you did, but my days of using bacon grease are over.

When you grow beans the shelled beans aren't pintos but just more mature beans of the variety you are eating green. As they mature on the vine, they get to where you can shell them. No bacon grease for me--just don't like the taste. I LOVE shell beans!

Absolutely love them, and usually buy them by the case once a year. At my favorite grocery store the brand is Allen's, but I have also bought the store brand at Save-a-Lot. I usually saute onion and diced bacon together, then add the beans and cook covered on medium low heat for an hour.

Unless we are talking about a different product than I am thinking they are why do they need to cook for a whole hour? Not trying to be smart. The product I use is already precooked in a can so just needs to be brought up to temp and simmered for a few minutes. If fresh I would cook that long but canned????

Love them and grow them every year. I guess canning season is the only time I wish I had never heard of them. I too cook my in bacon, ham hock or jowl.

Flo08,
I cook mine low and slow in order to get full flavor from the sauteed onion and bacon, so they don't taste like canned beans.

Canned--we just heat 'em and eat 'em too!
