Has anyone made Crock Pot Candy?

On Trisha Yearwood's cooking show Saturday, she made some chocolate Crock Pot Candy. It looked easy and yummy. Wondering if any of you have made it and how you liked it. I saw another recipe on another site that used peanut butter chips and chocolate chips. She just used choc. chips, if I remember correctly.

She also used broken up chocolate pieces didn't she and almond bark? It looked really good but I haven't tried it since I don't care for sweets. I've never tried crock pot candy, but I'll bet there are lots of variations out there.

I make crockpot peanut clusters every holiday season. They're so easy and everyone loves them.

Re: Has anyone made Crock Pot Candy?

I found the recipe for Trisha's crock pot candy she had on her show last week. I was curious when I saw her make it about the peanuts on the bottom. I am not all of that fond of peanuts so was thinking pecans would be good instead.

Re: Has anyone made Crock Pot Candy?

I made the following posted on a thread here titled 'Tis the season..for candy recipes':

I have not made saltine toffee for many years. You have motivated me. Thank you.

This recipe was shared on this bulletin but I did not include the author. This is very good.

Easy recipe....crockpot on low...
2lbs lightly salted dry roasted peanuts....
16 oz bag of Milk Chocolate morsels;
1 block of Bakers German Sweet Chocolate;
and 1 block of Almond bark.
Place all together in the crock pot than go about your business for approximately 3 hrs.
Turn crock pot on low.
I than spoon out on wax paper and let cool.
I have also seen people place them in the mini cupcake liners.
These are better than chocolate covered peanuts you get in the store.

It is very good and very easy, and makes a lot, I used the mini muffin papers and had 100 when done.

Re: Has anyone made Crock Pot Candy?

Thanks ladies....and snickster for posting. I think I will use the mini muffin papers, that way you can make more, and just get a little taste. I also think I'll use the peanut butter chips. Will let you know how it turns out. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Just an FYI! Read some of the comments regarding Trisha's recipe as far as using ""Warm"" or ""Low"" setting on the crock pot. Wouldnt want to waste any ingredients.

Here you go... It's almost identical to the one that Snickster posted, except for the method. Mine says to cook on high for 1 hour, then turn to low, and hers says to cook only on low. I don't think it makes any difference really.

Crockpot Peanut Clusters Recipe

2 lbs. white almond bark or white chocolate chips
4 oz. German's sweet chocolate or milk chocolate chips
1 pkg. semisweet chocolate chips (12 oz.)
24 oz. dry roasted peanuts

Put all ingredients in crockpot; cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Do not stir. Turn crockpot to low and stir every 15 minutes for 1 hour longer. Drop on waxed paper and let cool. Store candy in a tightly covered container.

Note: I like to experiment with different chips and I've had really good luck with Ghirardelli. The candy tastes a bit more 'gourmet' when I use their chips. Also, I always use Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate as I rarely have milk chocolate chips on hand. It's the type of recipe that you'll like regardless of whatever brand chocolate you decide to use, IMO.

Do you think it would work the same by dropping by spoonful onto wax paper instead of trying to dip it into those little paper liners? I make smaller batches in the microwave & just drop onto wax paper.
