Once the Harry London rep demonstrated how ganage is being made. He used chocolate, heavy cream and sugar. Ganage is not made with sugar. Also, he claims that this is an original recipe from about 100 years ago which is false. Back then (especially in Europe) sugar was very costly; so I guess that additional sugar has been added for today's consumer.

well, generally ganache is made with semi sweet chocolate so no sugar is added, but if it were made with unsweetened chocolate sugar would be added....

I like Harry London, have already ordered a large tin as a gift for my Mother who LOVES HL chocolate. I keep waiting for a Waggoner's special on Evine. I discovered them last year and can hardly wait to re-order the 4 lb assortment box for me!

Not a fan of HL chocolates. I prefer Godiva or See's.

Like especially the carousel tins and like the storybooks as well. The chocolates in my opinon are not even as good as Hersey . I have been tempted in years past to order just for the tins, but thought how costly that would be. I really wanted those nutcracker tins last year.

Well, I went on ebay to see if some people were selling the tins alone after they ate the candy and sure enough, they are.

BUT, the prices! The sets of tins are often selling for more than they cost with the candy in them on QVC! Yikes!

So if you do want the tins, I'd say you will get a better deal buying them from Q rather than waiting for the tins to show up (at least on ebay, anyway). I have been hoping to walk into a thrift store and find the tins sitting on the shelf for a quarter each! We can dream anyway!

And I have to admit, I'd rather have a box of Russel Stover candy from the drug store as far as taste, than Harry London chocolates. We live close enough to go to the plant, and have been there once. I love that it is a local company, and want to support local business, but don't think their candy is worth the cost. It isn't terrible stuff, just not worth the money to me.

I agree, the quality was just O.K. Nothing like the See's that have been a favorite in my family for years.

I live near the Giannos candy company. They are in Youngstown, Ohio and I live in a suburb of Y-town...a transplanted New Yorker. Their chocolate is superb. When my dear mother was alive, she couldn't eat anything that was chewy or had nuts so I would pick the cream filled chocolates out of their vast array of baskets. Each basket is labled with the type of confection, eg. vanilla cream, maple cream, etc.. Everything is freshly made; to that I can attest. We have many good chocolatiers in our area but G is, in my opinion, the best.

One of the best things we locals love about them is that they open very early on Easter morning and all the candy is 1/2 price. The line goes on for blocks. docsgirl
