Frosting For Whoopie Pies - help!

12tablespoons unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), softened but still cool
1 ¼cups confectioners' sugar
1 ½teaspoons vanilla extract
teaspoon table salt
2 ½cups Marshmallow Fluff

This is the recipe...from cooks country.

Is there any possible substitution for the marshmallow?

I was thinking of using heavy whipping cream?

Thoughts?

TY!!

I make red velvet whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting. Would that work for you.

I would not use the whipped cream as it would eventually deflate I  think. I'd take the other's advice and use cream cheese (yum)

@Harpa I might add that if you decide to use cream cheese, look up whoopie pie cream cheese frosting. I am not sure if it can be substituted 1:1 in your frosting recipe.

The one with the fluff is the best one!

I use a vanilla buttercream frosting and pipe it on using my pastry bag.

@twinkies....My plan is to bake today...Whoppie pies and I read your comments about the frosting recipe, why use crisco instead of butter?

I want to freeze these 'pies'....do you know if they can  be put together and then frozen?
