Love peaches!

In my area, the best ones come from Eckert's  in Belleville, Illinois.

They should be ready any day now and I cannot wait!

Re: Fresh Summer Peaches!!!!

Will be making my second batch of peach/blueberry crisp (or is it crumble? streusel topping) later today. The first was made for a family dinner/ dessert. It was devoured.  I'm the only one who refrained from seconds, and these family members are fussy eaters! I think it was an extra special treat as they cook but don't bake.

Today's item will be enjoyed by me throughout the week. An OK splurge as I use sugar substitutes in my baking.

This week I think I will substitute peaches for strawberries to top my morning oatmeal, too.

A perfect peach is a thing to behold!

I have discovered that Trader Joes 5-pound box is the best way to go (here in LA County). They are alread just ripe enough to eat and are sweet and juicy.

The only problem is that there are only two of us! No worries; we eat them up.

Re: Fresh Summer Peaches!!!!

The only peaches I really like are Red Haven and are available for about 3 weeks in August.  Don't know why, but they appeal to my palate for just plain eating.

I would SO LOVE to have some homemade peach ice cream.  DH says banana!  Banana!!!  Banana!!! so very loudly!  I don't eat it after it's refrigerator freezer stored, so I just say "the heck" with it!

The peach ice cream is so good. Maybe if your DH ate some he would change his mind. Does not turn out so good from peaches from the grocery store are used with not much flavor.

The peaches we get from Co are so juicy & tasty.

I could eat a couple now but will have to wait until the end of the month.

Eating nectarines until I can get some good peaches.
