Re: French Door KitchenAid vent

I had to replace the motherboard on a 6 year old GE monogram fridge and it was $1400! It needed one again a year later so I got rid of it. I bought a Samsung for $1000...cheapest one I could find that would fit the space I have. It is terrible....but am stuck with it. It stays cold at least. Plastic drawers feel like they are from dollar store and the icemaker puts on a long, loud performance every time it is making ice...it wakes me up at night of the BR door is open. There is also no way to get ice out other than on the door dispenser, so if I need to fill up my ice chest I have to do it one cup at a time. They don’t make them like they used to, that’s a fact! The repairman for my GE told me fridges are expected to last 9-10 years max....so why would anyone pay $5k for one with an iPad on the door? Just one more thing to break.

Sorry that you are having so much trouble with your Kitchenaid refrigerator.  It seems like so many brands of refrigerators have bad reputations and they seem to be so poorly made.  I bought a Frigidaire to replace my Kenmore that went out a few months ago after having it for 15 years.  Boy, do I miss my Kenmore.  That Frigidaire is SO DANG NOISY!!  I put on a white noise machine next to my chair to hide it. It hums so loudly when the compressor comes on and I have an open great room/kitchen area so I really hear it.  I hate it!  Apparently noise is a common problem with refrigerators now days.  Have never had such a noisy one before.

Re: French Door KitchenAid vent

we own two kitchenaid refrigerator freezers......one side byside with the icemaker/water feature on the door. that one is over 20 years old and i know i will be replacing it sometime in the near future. the other one is a french door with the freezer on the bottom and it includes an icemaker that was described in the original post. that one is about six years old now.

i personally would not hesistate getting any kitchenaid again. anytime an appliance needs replacing i have gravitated to kitchenaid. the most recent one to be replaced was a built in microwave.
