I never knew food items were taxed? 

 

I ordered Mrs P apples just  now and there was $3.00 tax .......really !!

I never thought they weren't.

 

I tell you today I was going to order Shari's Berries, the shipping and tax was more than the berries, I said forget that.

i believe it's considered a specialty food (or something) I know in FL everything is taxed including clothes🙄

we dont get charged sales tax on food items in maryland.

I thought it had to do with what type of food item it was and the state.  I think of the apples as falling into the candy category versus fruit.  Typically, candy is taxed.

All food is taxed in Tennessee.

Did you checkout or this was only in your cart?

 

I had this problem with HSN once. I called CS, they said tax would appear until I actually checked out. 

 

I checked out and the tax did disappear.

In my state, unprepared food (apples) are not taxed..Prepared food (candied apples) are..Also seeds and seedlings for flowers and plants  (inedible) are taxed, seeds and seedlings of edible plants (herbs fruits vegetables) are not

here in ri prepared food is taxed like a hot rotissary chicken. but when chicken is put out next day as a cold cooked chicken its not taxed.i never understood that. its still a cooked chicken.
