Re: Exchange KitchenAid mixer while still under warranty?

Thank you for sharing the experience.  I will contact QVC customer service and see if they can help me out on this one.  I just want to get back to baking up a storm :-)

Re: Exchange KitchenAid mixer while still under warranty?

I know how you feel I"m so sick of summer food. Tuna, chicken salads, cold sandwiches, homemade ice cream. I want to hit Oct. I can turn off a/c and live with just fans. Turn on my oven again.  I'm wanting a bowl of soup and my homemade rolls. Just went out and bought today a copy of Taste of Home Fall Baking that comes out once a yr. Some of my best stuff comes from them.

When I got a KA about 20 years ago, I think my DH had to make an adjustment per instructions.  I've never had a bit of trouble with my mixer.  As others said, Google it.  Would be worth adjusting and keeping it.  Happy cooking!

Hi - I'm a new KitchenAid owner. Bought model Pro600 Deluxe in Dec 2016. Still cannot get either flex edge or metal beater to come close to bottom of glass bowl. Can't whip egg whites, cream cheese, mixes, everything clumps at bottom until I scrap with spatula and just pull out the hand held mixer to finish.  It's now several months after purchasing and I feel bad because I dont want to use my mixer at all.  (Tried dime test on YouTube, the beater clears the dime by at least 1/4")   I adjusted screw on stem, no help.   Does anyone know if I can exchange at this LATE date?  I would pay shipping,  I just don't want to use this anymore. It's been disappointing, and I know it's a great brand name product.  KitchenAid C/S said they would send me a new bowl to try out to see if it would fix the problem, but I'd rather exchange for another model without this problem.   Has anyone else had this issue?  Hoping to resolve soon and get back to baking :-) Thank you for any advice!

I think I would first take Kitchen Aid up on the bowl replacement.  I have the Pro600 bowl lift, but with a stainless bowl.  I have had no problem with the beater (flex beater) touching  the  bottom of the bowl.  I've had mine for about 10 years without incident.  I would try the new bowl, but see if they can send you a stainless bowl, instead of glass.  The glass might have a slight irregularity in the shape causing your problem.

I don't blame you on being upset about your mixer,  it's a  big investment and shouldn't be that frustrating to use.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do..have a nice evening!

Cuisinart, is the best anyway. Mine was great out of the box. KA has changed over the yrs. not the same company and quality.

I was happy to get a  good KA mini. Wish Cuisinart would make more colors, have a smaller bowl, and a smaller stand mixer.

Re: Exchange KitchenAid mixer while still under warranty?

I had bought a bowl lift model KA mixer from Costco up in WA & hadn't used it at all because it wouldn't fit under my upper cabinets & was just too heavy to be pulling in & out of the cabinet & I then moved to AZ with it still in the original box.  I didn't mess with it for awhile & it just lived on my counter (it fit under my upper cabinets in this house!) & I  saw the test with the dime on YT & decided to try it.  The beaters kicked the dime all over the bowl & when I looked for the adjustment place on my mixer, it wasn't there.  I checked & found the adjuster screw on mine was in a different spot & when I tried to get it to loosen, it wouldn't budge & I was afraid to really put my weight into it & force it for fear of damaging it. I guess the model that Costco sold was slightly different than the standard one.   By this time, it had been about 5 years since I'd bought it.

I called Costco's CS & told the rep my dilemma & asked about sending it back to KA for repair & she told me to just take it back to the warehouse & get a refund.  I told her I now lived in AZ & had bought the mixer at a warehouse in WA & she told me it didn't matter.  I took the mixer back to my local warehouse & she looked in their system at my membership history & issued me a gift card for the amount I'd paid for it, no questions asked. I still had the old receipt from WA, but she didn't want to see it.   I went back & bought a more powerful KA bowl lift mixer off the shelf in the warehouse & it was only about $30 more than what I'd spent in WA & it works fine.  I love Costco!

Re: Exchange KitchenAid mixer while still under warranty?

Thank you for your information.  I have two fav places: QVC and Costco, and both have customer service that beats most others.   Good to know of your excellent experience.  I called QVC customer service yesterday and they said I could send it back since it's still under warranty.  How's that for awesome help?  Wow, feeling much better now.

Isn't that a relief ?   I know when they  did that for me I ran to Bed and Bath and got the KA mini because I didn't need another full size one anyway and the mini one works like it should out of the box.

Personally, I think it's in the shipment why I had so much trouble. Why I just went to a local store and got one in stock. All this shp to and from places, then, on to the consumer those things just suffer from whomever is tossing them around. My first one had bolts out of it, scratches on one side.

So glad you posted and now you can decide what your next move will be.

Don't want to tell you your business, but, if I were you I'd get a Cuisinart with the Bed and Bath 20% off coupon.

I know Cuisinart aren't as pretty and doesn't give the extra smaller bowl, but, they're made better and beaters easier to put on and take off.

If you do buy another KA I'd check out your local B & B if don't have they have free shp online
