@feline groovy not silly at all to enjoy the lighted features!

I've been eyeing a few on WS and want a lit model, too. I tend to fumble around the kitchen in the early am and some soft lighting without glaring overhead lights would be great.

@Mom in NY

After spending almost an hour going through ALL the electric kettles on Amazon, I went back to the $19.xx ones which I have at both houses.  They do last !

My preference is to have a separate base from the kettle.

After a few uses, I take a long handled brush and swish it around the bottom to get rid of calcium build up from the well water.  Or, if in a hurry, use a little white vinegar to cover the bottom to loosen any buildup and rinse it out.

We've had an OXO electric kettle for at least 5 years. It's mostly clear glass and detaches from the black power base for ease of use. It was pricey, I think about $120, so I bought a backup when I saw one on Zulily for $75. The original's still going strong and the backup's never been out of the box. We use it 3 or 4 times a day and it still works as well as the day we got it. It's one of the few appliances that's always on the counter in our galley kitchen.
