I only eat hard-boiled eggs and just 2 per week. Not crazy about them but my dog loves them so she shares them with me. Otherwise I wouldn't bother buying them at all.

You are not alone. I eat a lot of eggs (great protein) but I do not like looking at that snot-like mucus and remove as much as is possible.

I make French toast and eggs for breakfast sometimes for DH and myself but raw eggs gross me out. I thought that the white thing is the unfertilized chick. I 'd much rather eat them in a restaurant so I don't have to see them raw.

I just fry 3/4 firm or scramble, or we devil them.

The chalaza has nothing to do with fertilization or forming a baby chick.

No, you're hardly the only one. I love eggs, make all kinds (except poached because no one's ever asked for those), but never order them out because I "clean them up" before cooking when I make omelettes or scrambled eggs. For eggs where I dont want the yolk broken, I just baste them. DH couldn't care less about the chalaza, but he loves my eggs lol.

BTW, there's actually a device available to remove it, so someone sees a need for it based on their preference, but a fork or using part of the eggshell removes it quickly and easily for me.
