Re: Does anyone use a bread box?!

Oh you mean a mold box? Yuck. All a bread box does is accelerate the molding process in bread. I keep all bread in the freezer until I need it. It thaws in minutes on the counter and tastes as fresh as the day it was baked. Woman Happy

Re: Does anyone use a bread box?!

I have several Temp-tations bread boxes, and while they are pretty much useless for bread storage (too small), they are great for storing other things on the counter that you want easily at hand.

I have used it for K cups, sometimes for granola bars, and sometimes for my canning supplies.

a mold box has been my experience with one. I do have an old wooden one that I keep my recipes in out on a not very used counter. I have decorated it and get many compliments on it.

I keep my bread in the refrigerator or freezer as there are just myself and DH.

Re: Does anyone use a bread box?!

Thanks everyone! I would love to have an actual bread drawer that you can get in newer houses. But we dont have one.  The bread does mold easily in this wooden bread box I have noticed so in the summer we do have to keep the bread in the fridge.

I dont care for bread in the freezer since it always seems to be somewhat soggy when it is thawed!!! Otherwise I would do this.

I use the microwave for storing bread etc.-- keeps it fresh and out of sight... don't want anything on the counter all the time... coffee machine is enough to see and don't like clutter...

I have been loking for a L&L bread holder. Did you get yours from QVC? If so, do you have an item number?

Re: Does anyone use a bread box?!

My parents' house, the house I grew up in, had a bread box that was used frequently when my brother and I were kids.

My parents remodeled the kitchen about 10 years ago and they kept the section of the counter with the bread box.  Last year, I asked my Mom if they still used it.

She said "No.  We don't eat bread.  We use it to store stuff."

Re: Does anyone use a bread box?!

We don't have a bread box.  We keep our bread in the pantry away from light and sun.  Our kitchen gets really sunny in the afternoon.  It seems to keep for a really long time.  There are only two of us and we dont' eat that much bread, but I rarely throw it out.
