Do You Make Cold Brew Coffee? Iced Coffee?

I usually make iced coffee with two shots of Nespresso espresso, some milk and ice.  I have thought about making cold brew coffee for that too.  Do any of you have experience with that?  I have a pour over hot brew maker, but don't for some reason use it often.  Partly because we have coffee beans and a machine that grinds them for hubby's coffee, so we forget to get ground coffee.

Any other iced coffee with milk lovers out there?

I love iced coffee!!!  My favorite hot coffee flavor is Donut Shop's Coconut Mocha.  This makes a yummy iced coffee.

Also, I will admit that I am addicted to Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino.

Re: Do You Make Cold Brew Coffee? Iced Coffee?

I make iced coffee, but I don't cold brew. I just make hot coffee and pour it over ice, the same as I make iced tea. I've had cold brew iced coffee and it is very good, but I don't want to worry about straining it with cheesecloth, a sieve, or filters. I don't drink it very often, so I also don't want to deal with the make 12-24 hours ahead thing and have it take up space in my fridge.

I think if I drank iced coffee more often, I don't think I would mind making ahead and keeping it in my fridge, but right now it's just not worth my time or space.

I make cold brew. I use 3/4 cups coarsly ground beans to 4 cups water. Put the freshly ground beans in a container and then add water and stir lightly. Let it sit for 12 hours (at least) and strain. This keeps in the fridge for about a week. To make my cold brew drink, I use half water or milk/ half consentrated coffee and a tiny bit of vanilla syrup. The secret is good quality beans.

Ah!  THANKS!  I am going to try this. We do use good coffee--we have a great coffee maker too. I don't drink coffee, but like the espresso my Pixie makes, so that is what I usually use for iced coffee.

But I will try this!

A couple of times I made Sun Coffee, which is like Sun Tea that you brew in the sun, only I put Instant coffee bags and set it in the sun for a couple of hours.

Re: Do You Make Cold Brew Coffee? Iced Coffee?

I use a 1 part coarse ground coffee to 4 parts cold water ratio and put it in the refrigerator for 12-18 hours before drinking.  That is a little strong but after the ice melts a little it is good for me.  It is much smoother and doesn't have that kind of burned coffee taste.  I have not tried heating up my cold brew yet.  Cold brew uses more coffee for sure but I'm enjoying it.

The first couple of times I made it, I just used HEB medium roast.  They have a grinder in the store that you can grind the beans.  My regular coffee maker is an all in one grind and brew so I don't have a separate grinder at home.

My DH really likes Starbucks beans for his brew hot and cold.  I used one of the HEB flavored beans for my last cold brew.  It was pecan and coconut flavored.  It was delish with a squirt of vanilla sugar free syrup.

I have used a french press, a tea maker pitcher that has a fine mesh insert and a fine mesh bag that you can use in your own container made especially for cold brew.  I think that I like the bag the best as far as cleanup goes.  I bought from Amazon.
