He sure is an adoring son...

What does that have to do with his job performance?

He's also been lying about things being dishwasher safe. I bought a frying pan that he said on air was dishwasher safe, which seems to be important to him as it is to me, and when I got the pan it said Hand Wash Only. I sent it back. Then I ordered two different pans that he said were dishwasher safe, and the same message was on one but the other said if you put it in the dishwasher it would discolor the finish. That's not dishwasher safe is in my book. Both pans are going back and I will never purchase cookware from QVC again.

First, what is with David's hair?

Second, clearly he is tired, and driven.

Thirdly, yes he loves his mother.

Fourthly, his recipe ideas are always interesting, but often so compressed in terms of time, it isn't a pleasure to watch him make them.

Fifthly, since ITKWD became a supporting sponsor of cooking shows on PBS, the emphasis is to watchand buy buy buy.

All this said I think he is well suited to the kitchen and food, and should be doing something at a slower pace.

QVC is a wonderful resource, but indeed, how many scoops of instant ice cream from a Vitamix can excite one to a happy dance?

There have been comments on the boards in the past about selling the TSV during ITKWD. If it's a kitchen product - fine. But a Bose or something similar? Really, don't those products get a slew of hours on the particular day? I agree with another poster here who said he running around from this to that, then throw in the TSV, and whatever else management wants him to hawk. That show should really take road trips WITH NEW PRODUCTS and not the old ones ...

On 4/7/2014 Reever said: These hosts, especially the more senior ones, do get a fair amount of vacation time. I'm not positive, but I think they get around 5 weeks off a year. That's a lot more than most people get and many of us can't even afford a real vacation. David was just in the tropics not too long ago he was posting photos sitting poolside. I'm sure they get burnout but so do most employees who have been at a job 10 plus years.

This post is so right on. All the hosts talk about their vacations in Europe or the Caribbean. How many of us could even begin to afford to go and spend a couple weeks at those places. I don't dispute that their jobs are difficult and they need time to unwind. But I do not feel sorry for them. They are fortunate to have jobs that afford them a very lucrative salary and the time to enjoy it.

As Reever said, everyone who has been on a job for years also feels the same. However most of us get only two weeks of vacation and cannot afford the luxury of spending that time lounging on the beach in Belize.

I'm not saying they don't deserve it, let's just put things in perspective.

I don't feel sorry for them either. They are well-compensated and not to mention all the freebies they get from the vendors (to try things out, etc.). There is always the option to move on to another job, but they probably wouldn't get the salaries they make at QVC. Most of them do have second homes to "get away".

In his favor, he never gets a break. When he's not on air, he's preparing, planning, and setting up for the next show. He has Wednesday nights to cover as well. Wouldn't he love a weekend now and then without a Sunday ITKWD to do ?

I think he is overworked. Not often does anyone cover his shows. He jumped in after Bowersox and hasn't slowed down much since.

I do like David as a host, he is very professional yet personable. I have noticed that he does seem preoccupied (bored) on many shows this past year. Vacations, vacations, vacations and two or possibly three on air days per week at their salary. Slow it slightly and enjoy!

ITA, HAHAHAHA! Someone once described it as looking drawn on with a black Sharpee.

Could it be a toupee ?

I agree with you when you say David is talking very fast. QVC is probably giving him too much to sell with not enough time. His show is great. I hope he can work it out. He should be able to do the show in a relaxed fashion.
