Crockpots don't seem to be so popular these days as the newer multi-cookers which function as crockpots but also sear,  steam,  bake.   Every shopping channel has one plus Cuisinart and other companies make them.   I prefer my pressure cooker which also does these things in addition to cooking fast.   I use its slow cook function as much as I pressure cook.

Have you considered giving your daughter an Instant Pot intead? It has a slow cook function but this electric pressure cooker is so much more. If she still wants to slow cook she can, but I bet she soon falls in love with pressure cooking.

@Kachina624 makes a good point about the versatility of an electric pressure cooker or multi-cooker. If kitchen real estate is sparse these are especially nice. She can choose between slow cooking or fast cooking and still have a homemade meal.

I don't know why a stirrer would be purposeful for slow cooking as I have always understood it is best to not stir ,at least not often. What I have always appreciated about slow cooking is basically --dump it in /slow cook and eat a tasty meal ! I really liked it when I worked outside the home.

I hope Santa finds just the right one for your daughter.

My daughter requested a new crockpot for Christmas. I know she wants it to be programmable and have a locking lid. But other than that there are so many out there to choose from.  One even has an electric stirrer attachment, another has a meat probe, etc.

Just wondered if anyone has bought a new crockpot recently that you just love?  Thank you!

I would never want a programmable one!  If your electricity flickers, you pot goes off and does not go back on when the electricity comes back on.

I know from experience!  If you have one that has the manual "high, low, warm and off" the pot turns right back on in when you have a flicker.

We have electric flickers here quite a bit.

I have an Instant Pot which is awesome.  However it is programmable.  I only use it when I am home.  If I need to cook something all day and I'm not home, then I use a regular non-programmable crockpot.

I use my Instant Pot way more than my (multiple sized) crockpots by the way.

I know that the newer slow cookers tend to cook fast and get quite hot.

I have a newer Rival that is a few years old, and that cooker gets too hot, from what I have seen and noticed.

I would like to get another large one, and was thinking about a Hamilton Beach.

Does anyone that has a newer one, notice that it gets too hot too? What do you think? TIA for any input or comments that you can offer. Smiley Happy

Hi giddy up,

Regarding your Cuisinart 3 in 1 multi cooker, I have a few questions and hope you can answer them before I buy this as a holiday gift and give to a person who has a pet bird.

Question #1 is various...

Is your Cuisinart's  inner cooking well, where the food is placed inside made of teflon, if not then what do your Manufacturer's information/guide/warranty state the cook well is made of, and does your CUisinar warranty also cover defects regarding peeling and flaking of teflon, if the inner cooking well is indeed made of teflon?

Question #2) In the 3 years of home use have you experienced any flaking or peeling within that inner cook well?

Questions #3) If this Cuisinart inner cook well is indeed teflon coated, then in case you are not aware.... it is a scientific and medical public fact that teflon is fatal to pet birds, as it turns toxic when items manufactured with teflon are used in the kitchen, and as a result the pet birds die.

If you can please address and answer each question, as I cannot reach the Manufacturer to ask them, and QVC offers this item for purchase now, and I need answers to my above questions before purchase.

I hope you can reply, and Happy Holidays to you, and yoursSmiley Happy.

Someone brought an All Clad 7 qt slow cooker to our Chili Cookoff earlier this year to the envy of all the cooks in the building.

Upon reading reviews, it seems it's not well made and everyone complains about the non-stick coating coming off, so I am holding off until a new version is released.

Wow! I guess I'm lucky mine is 3-4? Years old and I have no problems and think it is well made. I hope those folks contact All Clad, they SHOULD make good on it, yes?

I use my pressure cooker as much as my Ninja 4 in 1. If I am cooking any meat, hands down it's the pressure cooker. It always tastes better in the pressure cooker.

Oh, I bought my dil an insta pot for Christmas.  I do hope she likes it.  I have never had an experience with pressure cooking.
