I agree with you about stainless steel appliances.  I really like the black appliances, but my kitchen is on the smaller size and I'm sure the black ones would just make my kitchen seem even smaller.

Right now I have all white appliances.  I know they are considered very old fashioned, but I like them.

I'm with you in liking a warm and cozy feeling in my kitchen.

Copper tone appliances were popular in the 60s, although they were more brown than copper.  I've shopped for appliances recently and have seen no copper.  They do have a dark steel gray which looks like it was conceived in a mortuary.   Very ugly.

I understand you can have appliances professionally painted any color at auto body shops.  I'm thinking turquoise

Re: Copper colored oven, refrigerator and dishwasher . . . Anyone?

I had to purchase a new stove & dishwasher about 4 years ago, and chose black ones.  My fridge was working fine, and the budget didn't support a new one, but it was almond.

I painted it black in one day with Rustoleum.  3 coats of paint that dried to the touch in only 20 minutes each.  I never even emptied it, just rolled it out into the middle of the floor, didn't unhook the water line either.

Surrounded it with newspaper on the floor and painted it with a small roller.  I found several UTube video's showing how to remove the water panel front and the door trim.  I left those things almond because I figured the paint might chip on those parts.  I masked off the gaskets to paint later.

The painted fridge was my pride & joy!  The kitchen looked so much better with matching appliances.  We were able to replace the fridge this winter with a new black one and moved the painted one to the garage.  It is still going strong and the paint job has held up fine!

Thank you so much for your interest and comments.  I am starting to think that focusing on just the stove is my best option.  There is a farmhouse ssunflower copper sink that I am considering. I thinks it's beautiful.  You can google it if you care too.  It's called sunflower offset 42" double bowl copper sink.  I could even do just the copper sink and incorporate something more neutral for the appliances.  The cabinets I will be redoing are oak too.   I sure could look into panels as well.  What kind of paint did you use and any special technique?  It sounds like your place has a lot of character!!

That's a stunning sink, @Yabbadabba!  It's beautiful AND unique.  We do have similar tastes.  I just used regular paint I used for trim for the refrigerator, and it's good as new after 12 years.  If you have the oak cabinets, try a technique that preserves the grain if you can and if that's what you like.  The grain on my cabinets is simply stunning.  I'm certain that this very nice kitchen designer never again told her customers not to get wood with grain in off-white.  You could price out panels and then try paint so that if the paint didn't work you could go with the panels.  If your husband has good carpentry skills, he might be able to make his own panels out of the thinnest bead board.  That needs to be special ordered in many places, but it is probably cheaper than if you buy them from a cabinet manufacturer.

Do you have any discount building supply stores in your area or even those places that sell old house parts (I forget the common name for them)?  If so, you should cruise them for great deals.  There's one such store near where I live.  Their inventory is ever-changing, but the deals are not to be believed, and you can find things that are unique and not available at places like Home Depot.  These kinds of places can be a source of beautiful bargains that will make your house one of a kind on a shoestring budget.

Let us know how you are doing if you are inspired to do so.  It's fun to plan things, and it is even more enjoyable to pick up unique items for a song.  Sometimes I wonder what I would do to enjoy shopping if I had an unlimited budget.  I get such a rush when I find something great for dirt cheap.  Perhaps I'd have to start robbing banks just to keep the thrills going!

Copper is back?  Who knew?  But i am still holding on to my harvest gold stove and fridge.  😬. They work great and my appliance repair man says the new stuff is not built to last.

Re: Copper colored oven, refrigerator and dishwasher . . . Anyone?

[ Edited ]

We had the copper colored fridge and stove in the 1960's. My mom and I loved them, but they quickly become dated.  A stove will, or should, last a VERY long time, so think about that.

I looked at the sink and it is beautiful!  It is copper, and copper is really hard to keep looking nice (I have a large collection of copper cookware and big pots).  So what I am wondering is how that sink will age, and what it will look like with water spots, acids like lemon juice, vinegar and tomato juice if you ever pour those into it, etc.  If that doesn't bother you, then go for it, or if you don't use your sink a lot that makes a difference.  Maybe talk to someone who has one and see how they like it.

I so much appreciate everyone's interest, ideas, and comments that are making me think . . That's always a good thing.  I will research maintaining a copper sink.   I don't want to make this sort of investment and have it look like "you know what".  I will have to see what the maintenance effort is and then see how well my husband catches on to it, lol.  I am giving myself 6 months to plan, with the goal to start in January.

I truly don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but my brother has a copper sink and I think it looks kind of gross most of the time. Woman Sad

Re: Copper colored oven, refrigerator and dishwasher . . . Anyone?

What a great idea!  I also love copper colored anything.  For a brief moment even contemplated buying the copper KA stand mixer - to the tune of nearly $600!

Found this stove with a google search (I'm sure you've done that too), but the price of this one is over $7000!  Yowza!

When laying out the kitchen in our new home, I opted for the best appliances for our needs that our budget would allow in black and have added copper accents - pots, colanders, flatware, mugs.  I knew I would love the copper, but thought it might just be overpowering.  Also a really PIA to keep clean!  There's SO much available in copper these days.  I even got a toaster!  When the toaster goes, no big deal, if something went wrong with my expensive copper stove, I'd cry a river.

Good luck with your remodel and have fun!
