I read about egg cartons after seeing this post. It says it's best to keep eggs in the carton they come in. They need to be in container with a lid to keep odors/flavors from getting in the eggs. It also says to store in the coldest part of refrigerator not on the door. I don't keep mine on the door.

If you are going to put in a different container use a lid plus put eggs in carton point side down. If I put mine in a different container I would use glass with lid not plastic.

The only time I have cracked eggs, it's because I didn't check the bottoms when buying, or maybe the carton slips in my hand when I'm unloading it.  That happened a couple of weeks ago.  Once they're in the fridge, they're safe.  I keep mine in their original carton and store that underneath the ice maker, so no need to stack anything on top.

Quite a ridiculous price.   They always have the acrylic containers at Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshall's.  There's always Amazon too. My eggs don't sweat in the containers I use.
