Up cooking this morning getting ready to probably lose electricity due to ice storm. White bean chicken chili made, cornbread made, coffee brewed and a strawberry cake to cut the spice of the chili. Can warm everything that is needed on the grill. I did LOVE watching the beautiful snow this morning. Mostly ice now.
If I could just get my new puppy to go outside to potty I will have accomplished a lot this morning!
Those affected by winter storm PAX, stay safe and warm!

Made a big pot of vegetable beef soup and cooking up some hamburger patties and sausage to make some sandwiches. Have bottled water on hand. Peanut butter and jelly and a loaf of bread. 2 gallons of milk. Going to make some Speedy Oatmeal Cookies to have on hand to munch on.
We have over 4 inches of snow on the ground and it is still coming down. We are waiting for the sleet and ice to come in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch expected. Roads are covered with snow. Everyone stay in and try to keep warm!!!

I feel so bad for you guys. I've been in your situation so many times and, the older I get, the more I worry about weather. I always have a manual can opener, a supply of all sizes of batteries, and I always try to have drinking water stored and I keep food on the shelves that doesn't have to be heated in case of power outage. You people with gas ranges are fortunate. If we have a storm on the way, I'll draw some water for bathroom purposes. We've never lost our water, but it happens and pipes can freeze. We all have to plan ahead for catastrophes since nobody is exempt. Our winters started being severe in 2007. I'll be thinking of you guys! Stay safe and warm.

I feel bad for those in this icy path! I've been in more power outages than I care to talk about!
Tomorrow under our foot of snow, I'm making a meat loaf. I'm assuming my DH will also stay put since he works out of state, so really it's his b-day dinner!
Prayers for everyone!

Stay safe and warm everyone...OP, your menu sounds warm, cozy and delish! Hope that puppy will brave the outdoors for you! What kind of puppy do you have?
Up in western NY, we are missing this storm for a change. So sorry for all of you in its path. I have lived a lifetime of these types of blizzards/storms here...and we are snow country! All done, tired, no more, too cold...Who lives in FL I can come visit??? Anyone???

I have made soup for every storm this winter---which means I am souped out. I don't like chili although my family does, so I did that only once. Pasta-d out, too. Wish I had thought ahead to deforst the 20 lb. turkey I have in the freezer.
WE have about 14 inches of new snow today, with four or more coming tonight. And that's on top of what was already there---about a foot or so.
In Sochi, it is 60 degrees---in Denver, too. Unbelievable.

I hope everyone is safe and warm!
It is a good thing that we love soup at our house because I think I have made it every time we had more cold weather; we love chili also so have made that several times; DH will eat it anytime but I quickly tire of it....would like to make a white chicken chili but have not found a recipe that we really like yet.....if anyone has one they care to share, I am all eyes!
we have already had more winter since December than I can recall in the past five years! No snow right now; the storm most are dealing with now was ice and sleet here...today it as 65 and Saturday it will be 75 degrees! And then down to the 20's again on Monday....I think we are all ready for spring no matter where we live!

I'm so sorry that you are all suffering through this miserable winter. I do have to say, though, that I'm a bit envious. I always loved the coziness of being hunkered down with my family in a storm. Say safe and warm everyone.

We had it bad last week; power out water line breakage. Thank goodness neither lasted long and neither happened at the same time.
We do have a small generator that hubby can hook up if he thinks power will be out for a long time or if it's dark out. The water outage was terrible though. I would rather go without electric! We do have a gas stove which is wonderful to have! At least I can open a can of soup or heat up leftovers if needed.
Our doggies have a rough time going potty too. Now that the snow is hard, their little paws fall into the ruts made when it was soft and they are having a difficult time walking!
Everyone be safe, warm and think Spring!!!
