We love them too! I buy the bundles. The bag ones have too many large stems. To me it's more work to clean them than to clean the bundles. I cook mine with ham hocks, beef broth, balsamic vinegar and seasonings. Everyone loves them! My husband has family from Mississippi and Arkansas and they always ask me how I make them! Years ago, I found the this basic recipe with beef broth in a Holiday cookbook that had Kwanzaa recipes in it. We'll have them today with pork roast, black eyed peas, stewed tomatoes, rice, sweet potato casserole and cornbread. Happy New Year Everyone!🎉🥂🍾

This afternoon I will make 2 bags of collards in the pressure cooker (Instant Pot).
I cook them with veggie broth, onions, garlic, balsamic vinegar, tomato paste and brown sugar. (I saute the onions and garlic first.)
Pressure cooking is suppose to help retain the good nutrition. AND I don't have to babysit the greens.
So far no one complains when I serve this dish!
Happy, healthy new year to everyone!

@Carolina925 wrote:Collards & corn bread is my favorite part of my New Years Day meal! I buy them already chopped from a farm in SC and agree about too many stems but it's easier to cut out those stems than soaking them to get rid of the sand. I've always heard that they need a nice frost before cutting to keep them sweet. We're still in the 70/80s here so I'm hoping they will be good.
They also become tender after the frost has hit them!

I've never had collards: don't even know what they look like. But, sounds like something I would like, reading your different recipes here.
Guess they don't sell them in Central MA - wish they did, would love to try them!

I like to mix collard and turnip greens. And I grew up hearing that you never harvest the greens before the first frost.
