About those Mad Hungry silicone kitchen tools...

[ Edited ]

Hate to be negative about the Mad Hungry Silicone Spurtle set that was  on air in the past few minutes, but I own it  (at a  higher price) and it has been a total waste of money for me.

Pieces are heavy and very clumsy, with thick edges that don't really get down to scooping or stirring anything very well.

I have a vast collection of wonderful all-silicone tools from Bed Bath Beyond which are far superior.  Don't know why I needed to buy anything else.  The spurtle tools mostly take up my drawer space and are rarely used.  Will donate them soon.

I don't like the spatula in the set but I use all the other pieces all the time. I like the mini spoon the best. I use it the most. Would like to buy a couple more of just those? I have never seen one like it. They do have them in a set that the pieces are larger which I don't really like. I have smaller hands so like theses mini tools.

Good to know.  Silicone tools are like the three bears story, they need to be not too thick, not too this or that, but just right.

My all time favorite is the all yellow egg tool sold at Williams Sonoma.  My other favorites I've also bought at that site.

I like these mini tools and have used them frequently. I've also given the sets of gifts. I think they're very handy.  Smiley Happy

I have half dozen different sets of spurtles including the set shown today. They are the most used tools in my kitchen. I don’t think they’re heavy and the clean up beautifully in the dishwasher. My son is a culinary student and also enjoys using them.

@RollTide2008 I too have many spurtles, although I don't have the silicone set.  I love wood, and have bought many individual pieces also, very functional along with beautiful.  I am not a fan of silicone in cooking tools.

I have the silicone spurtles set and use all the pieces just fine. We gave all our kids a set at at Christmas for their "little extra" gift.

I bought three sts, two were given as gifts and I kept one set. Have used them for various things I made in the last month or so. It is not easy to find  kitchen utensils that are all silicine from tip to handle. Most of the time , all I have seen had wood handles that  my sister and daughter do not care for .

They work for me and I liked the colors .

Among my many silicone utensils, I do have one set of this brand in the silicone.   TBH, I seem to only use the one that is somewhat long and quite  narrow.   I love that one.

Otherwise, I don't even remember what else was in that set.
