Re: Cherry cabinets with what color of counter?

I like light-dark contrast, so with dark cherry cabinets I personally would choose a lighter countertop (granite?) with flecks and colors in it that blend with the cabinets and other colors in your kitchen decor. I wouldn't choose black, dark green, or very other dark colors with the cherry cabinetry -- too much "darkness" for me.

I have this one, with a cherry color and gold walls.

Giallo Napoleon

Giallo Napoleone Granite

This is what I have with (unstained) cherry cabinets and I like it. My neighbor has black in one of their homes and dark brown in the other and those counters are gorgeous. We all have a backsplash that is the same granite which I find a bit boring. My old house had these same counters with travertine backsplash and I liked that better although I'd probably do a sheets that are a combo of glass and travertine if I were to redo the backsplash this time. Good luck in making a choice!

Mine is black, counter tops I mean. I have no trouble keeping it clean and shiny and wonderful. But that is me. Others might have problems depending upon type of water or usage. It is just me and hubby.

In my humble opinion, black with dark cabinets would make for a dark kitchen. But, again, that is just my opinion.

We stayed once in a condo with black counter tops and you could see every little water spot. I would not want black.

Cherry cabinets are so beautiful that I would definitely look for a counter top that would accent them and show off their warm, lovely color. I wouldn't choose black, personally.

Neither would I! I would choose white!

Personally, I hate dark kitchens and am not fond of stainless steel. Dark kitchens are depressing to me and make me think people are trying to hide dirt.

I like light, bright and airy especially in warm weather or when you are cooking.
