I use a credit card that pays me cash back on all purchases. At one time I was using my debit card for shopping then I found out how unsecured they are. I shredded it and never plan owning another.

@SilleeMee- I stopped using my debit card also for the same reason. I still have it, but haven’t used it in quite some time.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

With all the POS identification/security breeches,

why would one want to take that risk?

I have this vision those people walk around leaving the

My debit card has the same zero liability protections as my bank credit card.

Mine too. Who doesn't know about this?

I'm stunned.

I personally like to make money on my money.

If I initiate a transaction on my credit card proper, say, on the 1st of the month, I have that entire month before the statement cycle ends.  Then add an additional month to pay off the purchase.  Pay everything in full, no charges.  My credit card company literally gives me an interest free loan for 60 days, in this illustration.  I can earn interest on my $$ before using it to pay off the credit card.

If you use a debit card, choosing credit function, it will be out of your checking account in 2-3 days.

This.

Plus the perks from using a cc.

i’m stunned

I like to spend money no matter where I'm shopping and a card is just easier.

I put virtually all purchases, including groceries, onto my CC to get a hefty cash back award and to keep track of expenditures.  I pay it off each month.

Debit cards.  I don't own a credit card.  Only use Debit cards for everything.

Re: Cash or card at the grocery store?

I have to admit to getting a nice chuckle out of the castigation for being foolish enough to use a debit card (no cash back, etc.) but it is apparently okay to pay cash or use a check.  Ummm, the three are essentially the same method of payment.

Hmm. I don't see that I mentioned not using a credit card that gives a cash back benefit. I simply agreed that my debit card is fraud protected. Now I am puzzled.

I do use my amex for a lot of things because it has a cash back benefit.
