When I see those cakes I'm inspired to bake them, not buy them.

Something about buying food on an installment plan sounds wrong, no matter the price.

I love to bake so I also would make my own.  While quality ingredients are not cheap, they still make a dessert less expensive and made with love!  My cheesecakes can cost me $20 or more to make...and take a really LONG time.

However, I recently went into a local bakery.  All the 'beautiful' cakes were $55 and up.

They were not as big.

Everyone spends their money as they see fit.  While I would not spend that on dessert...I have spent a lot of cash on good quality meats/roasts/steaks.

Those are gone just like a dessert is.

Maybe we should just stick to buying SHOES!

They're usually quite large, however.  Had I not already ordered for my Easter outing, I've have been tempted to order the carrot cake.  Yum.

I have sticker shock every day over something.

A simple 9x13 iced sheet cake, nothing special, is over $20

A bit bigger and more decorations, but still plain inside is $35

And those are not prices from any local bakery, those are Walmart/Sam's & Publix prices.

From a bakery a small round layer cake with fondant and maybe some skimpy decorations start at $45.

I'm not ordering the cakes, I'm just saying
