Re: Carrot cake or lemon coconut

Let's all chime in and talk about what we can't believe people spend money on.  For me, it would be a $100,000 RV.  Can't IMAGINE spending that when you could stay in really nice hotels or stay home.  For that matter, I can't imagine spending ANY money on an RV.  But a lot of people do it.

So what's your "I can't imagine" buys?????  Should be interesting.  Since these topics come up daily, let's just put it all on the table here.  Woman Embarassed

@stevieb

I think what several of us are saying is that from our observations at local bakeries, the prices on QVC are NOT out of line with what Specialty Bake Shops are charging in our area.

@Carmie

I left 5 mins. ago for my pie!

My lemon tree requires very little care...and not a lot of watering.  I have it in the house in the winter, get fruit.  Put it outside is the summer, get fruit.  My DH has a meter he sticks in the dirt.  We don't water very often and don't fertilize either.  Fun to watch them grow from tiny green boogers to huge yellow lemons!

@Sooner

I would NEVER spent money on an high-end brand/expensive car.  No lexus, caddy, Beemer, Lincoln, Jaguar.

However, I would spent $100 on a great handbag or face cream w/o blinking an eye. LOL

@RespectLife  See!  That's funny!  I'd carry a bag for 20 years for a new car like that!  LOL!!!!!  I think they'd be looking at my car and not my face!  LOL!!!

Re: Carrot cake or lemon coconut

The cakes looked fabulous but the price was ridiculous.  I could make a nice family dinner, including dessert, for less than that!

@RespectLife It goes without saying that people should spend on what they choose as they see fit. I'm simply saying that this price for a cake wouldn't be a priority for me... As for whether or not the price is somewhat standard, I guess I've had better luck than some finding good cakes for less in my area...

@Group 5 minus 1, if you click on the nutrition information, it says there are 16 servings. It also says it’s 5 pounds so that seems like a generous portion.

@RollTide2008  My husband would have that cake polished off in about two days by himself.

It would serve one person, 8 times.

If you buy a car, an RV, a house, etc.  you can always sell it and get a portion of your money back even if you used it a lot. So you can get pleasure from your purchase,then sell it.

Once you eat a cake or any food product, you cannot resell it.  No one wants recycled food once it’s been processed.

You might want to start a new thread on this subject and maybe not highjack this one. Interesting topic, though.

Re: Carrot cake or lemon coconut

I have a tendecy to roll my eyes at these 'what kind of moron would spend that kind of money for THAT?' threads.

As others here have already said there are things some would spend money on that others wouldn't and vice versa.   That's ok!!   geez

Yet, every day here there are more threads admonishing/insulting others for where they spend their money.

I have enough bags and shoes, etc ad nauseam, to last for however much is left of my life.  It's not all that many but it's enough for me.  So what.  It doesn't matter that others spend their money on shoes, bags, huge amounts of cosmetic products - or whatever.  That's their money and I say - have at it and be happy.    I will spend my money differently and that's ok, too...or it should be.   Smiley Happy

Maybe as a one time splurge, but I wouldn't order on a regular basis.
