@Abrowneyegirl  I've had the Kuhn Rikon for many years and have given it as gifts. I would recommend it without reservations. Here's a pic from Amazon, but QVC sells a different version.

Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Opener for Cans, Bottles and Jars, 9 x 2.75 inches, Red

@Abrowneyegirl - I completely agree with @PA Mom-mom; I've had this "master" version of the Kuhn Rikon can opener for over a decade and absolutely love it. In fact, when Kuhn Rikon just had a Black Friday sale on its website, I picked up six more because I like to have them on hand for kitchen gift baskets and this version can be hard to find and a bit pricy on other websites. Twisting the top does require the ability to grasp the toggle, but I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and still can use it easily. Good luck!

Another vote for the Pampered Chef can opener - have had it for years and it is great!

@loriqvc  Thanks for the heads-up re the sale on the KR website! They are still on sale, but not sure if still the same price. I wish QVC would bring back the original "master" with the polka dots. That's what I have.

@PA Mom-mom - That's a good price, but the Black Friday sale price was even better. If you're interested in KR products, I recommend signing up for the email list; you'll get very few messages overall, but they're typically good ones with sale notifications or promos about product videos they've posted on the site. (And I believe you get a coupon for your first order when you sign up for the list.)

Swing A Way or Kitchen Aid.  My KR is tucked away because it didn't work as well as a cheap one.

I use the Swing pictured above; when I first was out on my own I used the little opener the Army uses in their rations ( I kept it on my keychain).

@PA Mom-mom I even bought 2 because I know how I find something good and its discontinued!

I've gifted this can opener but the recipients who are highly educated PhD's had to call me to ask me how to use it ...lol -- to this day I wonder if they ever used it!!!

Nope.  We tried several.  They all were malodorous.  We found and electric one that works Ok.

Swing a way is our favorite can opener, last a long time.

Wow, how many decades have these been available!    I remember them from my childhood.  Smiley Happy

But I don't use this type of can opener, for many years now.   The sharp edge thing and the lid sometimes getting inside the can as you open it, I find distasteful.

I just love the new ones that take the lid off w/o the sharp edges.  Now that I'm even more a klutz than ever I can imagine cutting off a finger with one of those!  Smiley Very Happy

The one Kuhn Rikon one that I have seems to not be made anymore, in lieu of that one pictured with that curly, pointy thing on the end.  It seems to be very popular, too, so I'm sure it's a good product.

I also have an OXO one that works almost as good as the KR one, but it's really big and bulky.   I only have that one too because, when I was having one of my episodes I couldn't remember how to work the KR one and my husband brought the big OXO one home.   I did finally remember again how to use the other one, so now I have both.  Smiley Happy
