I'll have to go stock up at Costco.  2 large jars for $13.99 here in NY.  I don't even make my own sauce anymore because of Rao's.  I see they said they won't change it but still....

@Tori3569  Same feeling exactly. Will be making a Costco trip in the next couple days. Smiley Happy

@Danky2

Although I really like Rao (Italian Sausage & Mushroom) have mercy it's good, I do like the Michael Angelo's too. I'm a sauce snob evidently bc Raos is expensive compared to good ole Ragu but Michaels gives Rao a run for thier money 💵 🍝

Re: Campbell Soup Buys Rao's

I tried Rao's because it is definitely the sauce of the moment.  All the foodie sites and magazines seem to be universal in declaring it the best jar sauce.

I think it comes in a solid second place to Victoria Marinara.

Victoria seems to contain less "stuff".  It is a traditional Italian marinara with a delicious tomato-forward taste.

It lends itself beautifully to building your own "to-taste" sauce.

I can understand the fear of you Rao's devotees because I don't remember any product (food, health and beauty, you name it....!) that was acquired by another manufacturer and was not in some way altered to it's detriment.  Hostess and Drakes cakes, Prell shampoo, British Sterling cologne are all shards of broken glass along my trail of broken dreams. Smiley Sad

Oh noooo....We don't eat processed food, but make an exception for RAO's.  I've been purchasing at Costco since they started selling and the savings are significant.  Now, our beloved sauce will be tampered and tainted. 😥

Guess we will be picking some up ASAP. I don't believe they won't make changes.

Re: Campbell Soup Buys Rao's

If they are already saying they won't change the sauce, I don't know why they would; it's obviously a huge seller and one of the reasons for the buyout of the parent company. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot by changing things for so many reasons. Just a few off the top of my head: It would likely A) cost a lot of money and B) involve a lot of effort to redo a recipe for no reason, C) show them as liars if they've declared things wouldn't change, and D) set them up to lose customers who enjoy the current product plus potentially even more customers if the unhappy Rao's customers then boycott the whole company in protest. It's possible they might do something in a few years, but for now, I think the Rao's recipe is probably pretty safe.

Rao's themselves have changed the recipe from the one they used when it first came on the market.

@PickyPicky3  Oh no! This can be terrible news if they change anything. I LOVE Rao's. BooWoman Sad
