I like Corelle dishes because they are thin and lightweight.   Takes no time to wash off a few plates.   I avoid paper plates if I can.  I added larger bowls and salad plates in plain white.  Have seen Corelle in Walmart.

I don't worry about breakage. I break a dish once in 10 years on average.

I love my Corelle, not sure what the pattern is but it is beige with a simple design, my mom bought it for us in 1985 for our 1-year anniversary. I also have Corelle in the motorhome because it is lightweight and microwave safe. I can only remember breaking one plate but it really shattered when I did.

I have a set that I bought from QVC over 30 years ago. Still going strong.

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

Re: CORELLE DISH WEAR

[ Edited ]

Throughout our life, DH and I have had many sets of dishes; some stoneware, Fiestaware, Corelle, Longaberger.  We had the Longaberger the longest.  The pieces were big and heavy, and took up a lot of cabinet space.  About four or five years ago, I finally said "no more" and got rid of the kitchen Longaberger and replaced it with plain white Corelle - think it's called Winter Frost.  It's so much easier to handle and store.  And since it's plain white it's easy to make a pretty table with decorative runners and napkins.  Corelle is essentially glass so when it breaks it shatters and flies all over.  It's happened where my bare foot would find a shard after I thought everything was cleaned up - kinda like that dried up Christmas tree needle that shows up in April. 🤦‍♀️  LOL  That said, I haven't had too many break.

BTW, @Pink123, the Corelle website is currently having a 30% off sale. Look for the code on the landing page.  There's also free shipping on $99.

I used Fiestaware most of my life. After surgery and then with arthritis, it became too painful to lift the heavy plates. I very sadly switched to Corelle.

Corelle is ok. The thing I really don't like is that the dinnerware gets so darned hot that it's next to impossible to hold a plate or bowl when food is served.

I wish I could find a lightweight Fiesta or similar stoneware.

I bought a set of Corelle for my daughter for her first college apartment.  I wanted her to have something light weight to make it easy for her.  When shopping I showed her the difference between Corelle and other dishes and she liked Corelle better.  So far so good, it's working out for her.  My Mom also switched to Corelle in her later years.  Her other dishes were just too heavy for her anymore.

@Janey2

While your details about breaking a piece of Corelle are true, I must add that it takes more than a simple drop.  I have had these dishes for over 15 years and have loved them.  I did drop a piece recently and had that shattering experience.  They are great for having kids load dishwashers because they are pretty resilient and not heavy.  They are also great in microwave.  I also  have white because I can decorate around for each season.

I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! When I first got married 38 years ago , we used Franciscan Desert Rose. We chipped it, we broke it. It cracked and scratched. After a few years we bought a set of correlle. After about 15 years that same perfect set went with my daughter to college. She still uses it. I bought our next set off of eBay. It is still in perfect condition. I have since added (from eBay) a set for 8 in the Santa, Tree, and Frosty Morn patterns to use during Christmas and winter. It has not scratched and is still in perfect condition. We have not dropped it, but I assume from other's comments, it would break if we did (but what wouldn't.) I bet, if you try it, you will love it.
