My experience is that the key to keeping cereal fresh in an actual cereal keeper, is to leave the cereal in the bag.   Regardless of the brand of cereal keeper, enough air gets in thru the lift open pour spout to ruin the cereal, unless it is still in the bag.   I have 3 of this type of cereal keepers, and you will always find bags of cereal inside them.

I also use 2 tall LocknLock containers for cereal storage.  The silicone seal under the lid keeps cereal fresh for a very long time.   I can pour cereal straight into these containers and not worry about it getting stale.

I just keep in original pkg and close with clamp or clothes pin.

Yes!  I do that too.  @RedTop   I forgot to mention it, so I'm glad you did.

i dont keep them in the plastic bags.......i dump them into either the lock n lock or the rubbermaid and have no issues with them getting stale.

  @KatieB

I use the cereal bag that comes right inside the box. I roll it shut to exclude as much air as reasonably possible and I either clip it shut or throw a rubber band around it.

Don't like a big container of air that's only partially full of food.

It also depends on how long you keep an opened bag. We buy the big Costco boxes of Cheerios and Red Berry Flakes for only two people. We also keep the cereal in it's original bag, then put in aL and L. That works fine.

@KatieBI've had the lock & lock set for a couple of years and they keep our cereal fresh.

Re: CEREAL KEEPERS

[ Edited ]

Thanks for all the replies..   I have the L & L cereal keepers now - they don't work - that's the reason I'm looking for something that will work now...

Thanks again,

Katie

I don't eat breakfast.  If I did it would be the Brenda Davis recipe for whole grain/ home made granola (or simple steel cut oats with berries) kept in mason jars in the refrig. definitely not a processed cereal in a box....haven't eaten that since elementary school.

I use the Lock & lock cereal keepers and they work well! They were in inventory recently with the TSV.
