Does anyone have any suggestions for cereal keepers that will keep the ceral fresh.  Has anyone tried the Rubbermaid brand or the OXO brand?  If so, how did they work?

I don't eat cereal any more, but when I had kids who did, I had a great Tupperware container that had a big pour spout on the top.  It fit a box of cereal just perfect and was easy to use and easy to clean.  I've seen Lock n Lock containers that are designed for this as well.

All you can do is keep it from getting soggy in an air-tight container.  Nothing will keep the flavor from deteriorating over time.  Lock 'n Lock makes some suitable up right containers.  They just had a set as a TSV last week.

Re: CEREAL KEEPERS

[ Edited ]

I use lock n lock containers made for cereal.  They have pour spouts.  I don't use that feature as I keep the cereal in their original bag and am able to get 2 into a container.  They stay fresh for a very long time.

I keep Hot Cereal in smaller LnL containers and pour the contents of the box right into the container.  Keeps very well.

I got my cereal holders at The Container Store. Best ones I ever owned. I have a hard time opening the Lock and Lock ones because of arthritis.

I have never had cereal keepers of any kind.   Even when I had children I would keep the original box in a zip lock bag and that always worked well for us.   I still do it that way.  If you can find the extra large, 2 gallon I believe, they will hold 2 of the regular size boxes or l of the larger size.   Woman Wink

Anything you fancy with a silicon seal will work.  I go to the container store.

i use the rubbermaid brand and the lock n lock brand.

they both work well and they are not JUST for cereal, of course.

both are great at the beach where moisture ruins almost everything......they definitely keep the moisture out.

i also use them for rice, snack foods, grains, and more.

BTW, I know I'm a litle late for this but I'm not interested in Lock n Lock..  Those cereal keepers are no good - they do not keep and will not keep anything fresh....

I use a Sterilite 6 qt container.  It keeps cereal fresh.  Sometimes I'll get tired of cereal and stay away from it for a year or more.  When I come back to the cereal eventually, it's fine.
