I use both.

Butter mostly for cooking & baking.

Margarine for toast, baked potatoes & such.

I keep at least a pound of butter in my freezer at all times.

Butter is my condiment of choice. I put it on almost everything. Cannot stand the taste of margarine. Good thing I have no cholesterol issues!

I take Prevastanin pill so I can eat like a human. Got tired of not being able to eat eggs, meat, butter, cottage cheese and choc milk.  Get my first reading in April to see if it's helped me to come down from chol count of 223.   If it's down to 200 I'll be happy.

I never did go back to cottage cheese and choc milk. Weird. Just don't desire it now. Those butter substitutes like I can't believe it's not butter are OK, but, I want to enjoy life. LOL

I used to use margarine all the time..mostly to cut costs back in the "olden" days, and I liked the taste.

For decades now I have used only butter.

I switched over when a read a report that said that margarine was only one molecule away being plastic.
After reading that, every time I thought about it, it made me gag.

@phoenixbrd

I'm with ya on all of those things.... but I admit I also use butter (unsalted)...my diet is mostly non animal though.

Thanks for the idea on seed butters for creamy sauces, I'm going to look into that today.

I use Trader Joe's "Earth Balance Original" mostly.  Except when I make popcorn, I use real butter.

We always have two things in the frig - unsalted butter (for baking and some cooking) and Land O Lakes Light Butter with Canola Oil spread.

I grew up on margarine. When I married DH, I switched to butter.  His grandparents were dairy farmers, and all of his family used real butter - and lots of other dairy products. I don't think he knew what margarine was lol.
