I have a Cuisinart and love it.  It has the signal for add-ins as well as a signal to take the paddle out so you don't have it baking into the loaf.  I've worn out a couple of other bread machines, but the Cuisinart is my favorite.  Got it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I've been using a bread machine since they came out. I have upgraded to a So and they are wonderful. 2 things you need to do is use fresh instant yeast and make sure your flour has enough gluten. You can buy vital wheat gluten at any grocery store.  The quality of the flour you use is very important. I'm a fan of King Arthur brand. Also check the protein content.  Don't give up. It's worth the effort.

@brandiwine Our Zo may not be the model you have but ours uses active dry yeast for regular time loves and instant for quick rise settings.   Most recipes I'll say.  At least the ones we make!  LOL!!!

I'm so sorry that the loaf of bread didn't turn out well.

I have a T-Fal bread-maker by Emeril, back from when he was still on HSN. I think that it's about 11 years old now.

With mine, the yeast isn't supposed to get wet, either.

All of the ingredients are supposed to be at room-temperature first, for the loaf to turn out properly.

The machine won't work unless the non-stick bread pan clicks into the machine properly.

@Shiloh09 the machine might not have been seated properly or the mixing blade wasn’t set in correctly. When my dough has been mixing for awhile I look in to see what it looks like.If it looks too wet and sticking to sides I will add a little flour or if too dry then I add a tsp of liquid.I remember a time my dh made a loaf with the same results as you and he didn’t have the mixing blade on correctly.I think that may be what happened to you.

Thx! I have made bread in it before...perhaps from the prepacked bread mixes for bread machines and since then it has been in the same spot on a closet shelf. I will give it another try. I will focus first on getting it seated properly. Thx for your response...appreciate it!

Yes but I have never used it. I was not having good luck with the stuff they sell in the grocery store so I switched. Only problem is I have to order it online.
