I do like white dishes and my first ones where white with some speckling from Sears. Currently, I have gone thru two set plus my current ones.   I convinced my DH about the virtue of white and he surprised me with a set of 12 in white when my dishes where low in quantity d/t breakage. Kids! I am not fond of them as the plates are so big, but its ok.   I also purchased 4 piece inexpensive sets for my adult children when they got their first apartments out of college. My china is blue wedgewood and I let my DH pick it out.  I used it many years for Thanksgiving and Easter holidays, but rarely use it now since we do not entertain alot.  For the holidays my MIL gave me Spode Christmas Tree and people have added to it.  Alas, I do not do Holiday dinners.  I got regulated to Thanksgiving.

With this being said, I guess I am now a dish snob! I found the Turkey plates at Williams Sonoma a few years back at an exceptional clearance price and grabbed them up.  For Easter, I found a few plates at Homegoods and had people look for these inexpensive plates so I got 10. I mix and match with others. I also have some vinatge stoneware from my MIL though not all pieces to make a set, but enough plates.

So, come Sept, I pack up my white dishes and pull out the brown stoneware.  On November 1, I oull out the turkey plates and use them until Black Friday weekend.  Then I pull out the Spode, putting them away early January.  Bunny plates come out next and then back to white.

If you ever would have told me I'd be doing this, I would have said you're crazy.  That's probably why Tara has changed cuz ideas, thoughts, and times do that to all of us as we go on with life.  And I am not wealthy--just look for bargains!

I think you are actually trying to puy Tara down for 'changing her mind' about white more than you are trying to have a discussion about liking white pieces or not.

She has moved towards what the customer's want...that is being a good business woman.

I don't care for Old World at all....and sometimes the hand painted option makes it look less expensive (which it is compared to other lines of stoneware)

I think the solid pieces are more classy.....good move on her part to bring it back.

Bottom line IS what sells....

@RespectLife Actually, I disagree. Her credibility is now in question. How are we supposed to believe anything she says now? She's always putting down "boring whiteware" and using that as a major selling point. She's changing her entire sales pitch now- and therefore, not good for business.

@Ladybug724

Those of us that have been w/ Q long enuf to know when hosts and vendors change their tune....are a miniscule droplet in a bucket compared to the 95 million supposed households QVC is in!

The vast majority of the purchasing public has NO idea when vendors/hosts shift gears!

How many thousands of new customers during Covid have no inkling of things said months or even YEARS before.

How many ppl besides those on these boards have QVC on 24/7?

Remember how they ALL used WEN, unless Ojon was on, then they ALL used that, now Tweaked...but wait....isn't that the ONLY eyeliner/foundation_____________fill in the blank________ they use?

It is not uncommon at all....and as said, NO one but us few here on these boards even remember it.

Yes, her credibility could be tainted to US...BUT we are a blip of the customers QVC has.

I LOVE this one!  Old Chelsea Franciscan vintage snow white swirl china bowl & platter made in England

As to the subject of her talking about how boring/ugly white dishes are, it always cracked me up because I always thought her stuff was pretty unattractive.  I really don't like white that much, especially if it's that hard white-white color.  But I'd take that over garish designs every day!

I like boring white ware; I thought Tara's frequent put-downs were uncalled for.  Other dishes are better for display, but, for food consumption, white is best.

I like my white dishes from JC Penney many years ago.

I also bought various pieces of Fiesta to add "color" to my table setting.

I collected various colors in old world and floral lace as accents also.

Although, it's now just us and once in awhile I get my colored pieces out.

I like white dinner dishes food looks nice🙂
