I'm looking for a boneless turkey breast (white meat only). Can anyone recommend one that you have cooked and would purchase again? Thanks

@xstitch Since it's just DH & me for thanksgiving dinner, we've switched to just a large turkey breast too. For the last number of years we will pay more for a great farm raised turkey (either whole and now the breast) from a local gourmet market in town where we live. These are hands down the best we've ever had. If you just happen to live in the Columbus oh area, this would be Weiland's Gourmet Market. Giving them a shout out for our delicious dinner!

The only ones I've ever cooked are the Jennie-O brand. I cook them in the crock pot, and they have always turned out very well.
I will pick up one next time they go on sale. There is a gravy packet included that I use when making soup from leftovers.

@xstitch in the past, I have bought fresh, boneless turkey breast at Costco and they were wonderful. They haven't had them the past 2 years. Why?, I have no idea, but I will check next time I go there. Last year I made a frozen Butterball boneless breast and it wasn't bad--not as good as Costco's, but not terrible. These Butterball's are available with just white meat or a mix of white and dark meat. Cost last year was about $10 for about a 3 lb. roast. Costco's were random weights and about $3.50+ per pound. Hope this helps.

@coffee drinker Does Costco usually have frozen whole or breast turkeys or fresh ones? I've never thought to look for them there! Thanks for mentioning it. We are new to Costco.

I got mine from Wegman's and it's Shadybrook Farms. I don't remember if I've gotten before or not. Walmart had turkey breasts about 6 weeks ago and I didn't get before they sold out and they've gotten none back in since, only whole birds Seems they don't stock as many breasts as whole birds and if you don't get it when it's there you're S O L.

The best I ever got was from Whole Foods. But it was bone in turkey breast. Fresh, not frozen. It was about 6 pounds and it fed 6 people and I had plenty left over. There was so much meat on it. Where I lived in California, you could order ahead of time. You could pick what you wanted...organic, natural, whole turkey, turkey breast and weight. They'd do their best to get as close to the weight you wanted. I live in another state now and they don't have any of that...bummer.

If you have a Wegmans nearby, I'd recommend their Honey Brined turkey breast. I buy it all of the time.

I always get my turkey breasts from Trader Joe's and they are brined. Have only bought brined for the last several years. They are more tender.
