Re: Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes

I don’t care for them. I’d rather have Idahoan instant potatoes.

Re: Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes

I'm the OP who started this thread a few days ago.  I tried the Original last night and loved them, but he didn't like them.  It's only the two of us, so going forward I'll buy the individual cups for me.  I also bought the garlic version and will try them next.  Very easy and quick to prepare.

Thanks to everyone for your replies and recommendations!  They will be on my shopping list again!

Re: Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes

My sister hosted Thanksgiving this year. She didn’t want to peel so many potatoes so she used Bob’s. I must say (coming from a scratch cook), they were very good. The other attendees did not notice they were pre made. ( We showed up early to help prep so we knew). Not a bad substitute at all.

Tried those and others. They are not for me.

I've seen commercials for them and in the supermarket, but never purchased.

I love mashed potatoes, but honestly sometimes I am too lazy to make from scratch.

Has anyone tried them - good or bad?

@twinsister

There are things I'll still make from scratch, but mashed potatoes is NOT one of them.

They also have a version called Sour Cream and Chives, which I think is very good, too.

I'm with you @twinsister I'm looking for ways to enjoy not working so hard in the kitchen.  These are great!

Was just telling a friend of mine last night to try these as myself and another buddy who normally do everything from scratch are thrilled we found these.

Just like @Deb665 they're on my grocery list often in fact picking up some sour cream and chive ones today.  My friend buys the original.

They freeze well too Smiley Happy

Love them but must disagree on freezing them.

When removed from the freezer, there was SO much water in the container that even when drained, they did NOT heat up well at all.  Not good.

Fresh eating only for our family.

I would try NOT draining the water.  Put them directly in the microwave per the instructions.  Let them sit for a few minutes when done.  Then stir up the potatoes.  I think the water is calculated into the recipe and directions.  Like many things, they may continue to cook for a short while after coming out of the microwave.

Re: Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes

I have started using them over the past year as I've had to cook for my parents a lot.  They are very convenient.  I only like the original version though.  The mac and cheese is also good.  I do buy the Main Street Bistro mac and cheese too.  I like that they have the small cups you can buy and I get them for my dad to cook during the week.
