Another thought would be to go with apples. They are in season right now and an apple muffin is a wonderful thing.

If you'd like, here's an easy recipe using Frozen Blueberries
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Stir together milk, oil, and eggs in a small bowl; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Fold in frozen blueberries. (Batter will be thick.
Spoon batter into 12 standard greased muffin cups, generously filling completely full. Sprinkle batter evenly with 4 teaspoons sugar.
Bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until tops are golden and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan immediately, and cool on a wire rack 5 minutes.

get frozen and thaw them before adding to the batter. Don't over mix when you fold them in or your muffin batter will be colored.

OP here. Thank you for all the ideas and the recipe. I've got a great place to start with experimenting before the day.

I have not made the Blueberry but their glaze lemon bread is outstanding. Squeeze in a little lemon juice if you want!! Fabulous.

I remember those tiny cans of blueberries in a mix--I use frozen berries the few times I make muffins now ---I also use to make the various boxes of Jiffy muffin mix--with the fake berries---my kids have such fond memories of those.
