I just today cleaned out my kitchen drawers and threw out a lot of stuff including black utensils.

I have about twenty old kitchen knifes that I no longer use....threw them out too.

I don't think I need anything new.  I have too much now.

@Sooner --I like them too----altho they sure do spot from the dishwasher--I got black ones and you can see that white film---not big deal tho---just rinse it off.

@Carmie I have knives I should let go of too but I'm not sure how to dispose of them.  I don't want them to be where they could hurt someone.

@Sooner

I read these "bad" plastic utensils need to go in trash, not recycling bin.

I am 73 and will be tossing out all my black plastic ones. I have non stick pots and pans though that can be scratched so will probably be looking for silicone ones. Why should you absorb dangerous toxins at any age!

Was that article released before or after the news about plastic utensils?

After looking at internet articles on nylon, most are saying some "may contain chemicals including flame retardants, and it also points out that nylon may contain other chemicals such as phthalates which are plasticizers that make plastics more flexable and durable.One article also mentions that nylon is a synthetic material that leaches chemicals when heated."
