I recommend them without hesitation! They are wonderful! They cook REALLY hot to sear a steak (90 seconds one side, 90 seconds another--close the damper and the lid to put the fire out, and let the steak "bake" until the doneness you like, which is usually another 90 seconds up to a couple of minutes or so) and it is THE best steak you'll ever eat!
They are great for chicken, burgers, pizza and such but are excellent also for real, slow smoked bbq! They use little fuel and burn for a long time. You use lump charcoal in them.
You'll love being an "egger!" We got one for just the 2 of us most of the time, it is a medium, but we can cook for four to 6 too. People that want steaks "well done" have to make do with stuff from the gas grill!

My husband prefers a Weber grill. We've had several over the years and find that it is easier to regulate temperature and amount of smoke. They are also easier for me to use. So I guess I'm in the minority with the Weber.
For you egg grillers, enjoy.

Love my Eggs. Great for everything from low and slow 225 to 1000 degree searing and pizza grilling.

We had Webers in the past and I can't imagine how it could be easier to regular temperature in one than in the BGE. The BGE has the thermal mass that allows it to maintain temperature even in the snow and can do overnight smokes with one load of charcoal. The Weber can't even smoke a turkey without adding charcoal.

The kettles and the eggs are totally different animals. What jaxs said is absolutely true. We have a Weber Kettle and even a Weber Smoky Mountain bbq water smoker, and the egg is far easier to use, and does a better job of cooking and smoking. Took me a long time to figure it out, but the eggers were right! (I used to sort of make fun of eggers. . . )

Hated it, could barely get a fire going let alone the high temps we were told the Egg would do. LY we found the large egg in nest at Sam's and bought it. We've barely cooked on our gas grill since, by the time you pre heat it, the egg is up to temp and ready to go. Used it all winter, even. There's a learning curve, but we got a lot of information on the web. Love the flavor of charcoal, even adding hunks of apple wood sometimes. Between that and the masterbuilt smoker, we have lots of flavorful meals. The off brand found a new home when we set it out on the curb.

We have the Kamodo and my DH loves it! It will get to high temps and cooks great. I don't think you will be disappointed. We wanted the BGE but just didn't feel like putting that much money in it. We're glad we didn't now.
