Any new thoughts on this? I have read the reviews from last year, but was hoping there would be some new input. Anyone have one? Love it? Hate it? Thanks!!!!!

I love mine. There is a learning curve for sure, but nothing you can't cook on it.

My dad used to cook on one. He brought it back from Japan when he was in the military. I remember him cooking on it in the 60's when we lived in Hawaii & still cooking on one in the late 70's. He called it a Habachi. He loved it & said it was the best grill ever. I know the food that was cooked on it was always good. DH would not mind having one but we already have a huge offset smoker, Masterbuilt Smoker & a Weber grill.

My husband owns a green egg. The food is fine. A little too smokey for my taste. HE LOVES it!

There's quite a few different brands any more. Primo is more oblong but has been around for awhile. I've seen one at Costco not sure of the brand. We went with the egg as that's what our friends had.

Two yrs ago we bought a knock off thinking we were saving money and real smart. Hated it, could barely get a fire going let alone the high temps we were told the Egg would do. LY we found the large egg in nest at Sam's and bought it. We've barely cooked on our gas grill since, by the time you pre heat it, the egg is up to temp and ready to go. Used it all winter, even. There's a learning curve, but we got a lot of information on the web. Love the flavor of charcoal, even adding hunks of apple wood sometimes. Between that and the masterbuilt smoker, we have lots of flavorful meals. The off brand found a new home when we set it out on the curb.

It was for us. After the shock of the price we couldn't live without it. You'll never have this problem, but I cook at -10 in the winter. My favorites.
