One of my fondest memories is of my Grandma who raised me from the time I was 3 months old.

She always wore an apron over her dress.  It was a bib apron.  Her name was Mary and she was a real Angel.

I grew up in the 50's and the women in my family lived in aprons. I kept my MIL's aprons after she died and do wear them when I cook.

I love the aprons that Stacey wears on her show.

I am a sloppy cook and always wear an apron.  if not, I have to pretreat and soak my clothing.i always get something on myself.

My mother made an apron when she was a small girl.  She even embroidered on it.  I still have it after many years.  I wore it when I was a young girl too.

When I cook those large dinners, it's either throw away that top or wear the apron.  My DIL, 30, has even gotten into the habit when she's here!!!

@Tweety68

Sweet post and a nice thread. Thank you.

My mom practically lived in aprons like the one pictured below.  She loved clothes and fashion, but never had enough money to risk ruining them with cooking stains.  When we got married, DH said he hoped I never wore an apron like that. He thought it was tacky or something.  For many years I didn't and then one decade I woke up and said, "Why am I listening to him?"

I bought a couple of my own and inherited a "wardrobe" of them from my mom. They are extremely practical. I don't wear them everyday, because my hang-around-the-house-clothes are cheap and easy to replace, but when I do, I wear them with love and pride.
