I was going through the weekly ad from my grocery store (Publix)

and they have Beef Bacon, 10oz for $7.89. I have never heard of beef bacon. Has anyone tried it and what does it taste like? Just curious.

A restaurant near me serves it.  I can take it or leave it.  The taste is similar to pork bacon but the texture if different.  It seems tough to me.

Unlike pork bacon, which comes from a pig’s belly, beef bacon is made from the belly or brisket of a cow. The process is similar: the meat is cured, smoked, and sliced into thin strips that crisp up beautifully when cooked. Some butchers and brands also use alternative cuts like the short plate to get the right balance of fat and meat.

The curing process typically involves salt, nitrates, and sometimes sugar or spices. This helps preserve the meat and enhance its flavor. After curing, the beef is smoked over wood chips to develop its deep, smoky taste. Finally, it’s sliced and packaged, ready for frying, baking, or air frying.

I believe that's the beef plate, not the brisket.  The brisket is the chest of the beef, not the belly.

Beef bacon is belly just like pork bacon!

@grandma2pkmh

I've had beef bacon in restaurants and it was quite good, but I've never bought it to prepare at home.

Bacon is made from pork, beef, and turkey, and each is a little different.
