I'd have to get a glass door refrigerator to display that bacon...

I didn't see the bacon presentation and didn't search for it, but I am guessing it might be real old fashioned smoked bacon and not the type made with chemicals.
My local butcher shop makes it this way. It's a lot of work. He has to keep wood burning in the smokehouse 24/7 for the meat to process. He does hams and sausage like this too.
It is an expensive process that takes a lot of time and time is money. There is a BIG difference between " smoked meat" you buy from the grocery store and the real McCoy that is really smoked with wood without chemicals.
It is way more expensive to make. Add shipping and a cooler and ice packs and the price is even higher.
I wouldn't pay $30 a lb for it because I can buy it locally, but it isn't cheap locally either.
I can tell you the taste is outstanding, so I understand why some people will buy it.

@Travone wrote:I was looking at items on air earlier today and stopped dead in my tracks. They are offering 3 pounds of bacon, for $90. I say offering because I hope they are not selling any at that price.
- This is almost sinful in my eyes. If you have that much money to spend on bacon, buy it at your local butcher and donate the rest of the money to a charity that feeds the needy.
(didn't mean to add the bullet point, but now I can't get rid of it).
@Travone. People often buy extravagantly priced foods as gifts. Don't forget QVC will ship it. It would make a great Fathers Day gift for a dad. It's probably exceptionally good bacon.
There's a lot of money out there with much of it being spent on more foolishness than food.

I think the high price is partly a result of the shipping charges for cold meat. I noticed the Stoltzfus bacon on QVC is about $27.50 per pound as well. We sometimes buy their bacon at their store in Intercourse, PA. Depending on the kind of bacon we buy, it's between $11.50 and $12.00 per pound. Bespoke bacon is always more expensive due to the small batch curing and smoking.
Personally, I don't usually buy the handmade bacon, but it reminds DH of when he used to make it himself. Who knows why people want to try this kind of bacon, but how they spend their money is up to them.

I never understood buying any food from TV.

The expense of anything is relative. What is expensive to one person is often times not even considered by another.

@Travone What you failed to mention is what type of bacon?
Thick Canadian?
Beef?
Pork?
Turkey?
Other?

How wonderful for those that have a local butcher.
Not everyone has access to one. We all live in different areas with different access to different resources.
And as Kachina624 pointed out, many of the food items are sent as gifts. Sometimes it can be difficult to find something unique to send to a loved one. This fits the bill.
And I always bristle at the suggestions of where and when one should make a charitable contribution. There almost seems a presumption that it's not been previously done. Such an individual choice where one puts their money.
Not everything sold on QVC is for all people. I'm all for more variety.

Spending money on oneself, one's families and friends is NOT sinful.
We alll choose how, and where, and what to purchase.
I enjoy ordering food from QVC, just as I enjoy ordering fashion, jewelry, etc.
Some people have fancy new cars--others own a second home.
Nobody is obliged to give money to charity when they have worked hard for what they earned, and they want to treat themselves.
Yes, that also includes billionaires, who could probably also donate a lot more, and not feel the donation as much as working people.
Whoever buys the bacon, ENJOY!!
