Thanks MKR NY for posting the recipes. I really appreciate it.
I'm still confused about the preheating part. I read through the book and am probably missing it; however, has anyone tried to preheat and how did you do it? Thanks!

I made the Italian sausage with onions, peppers and tomatoes and it was excellent! I'm really not sure what wattage my microwave is, but I found that I had to cook a bit longer than the recipe called for, which seems to be a common remark here on this thread.
I rinsed the unit out, wiped with a paper towel and it came out clean and shiny! I then used the carmelized banana recipe for dessert and it was great. I was a little concerned that there might be a leftover smell or taste from the sausage and peppers, but there was no such issue.
Question: When using the silicone insert for cakes/pies, do you need to spray the insert first with cooking spray? I've never cooked/baked with silicone before.

Is anyone getting a grilled look with a 700 watt microwave? I tried ribs again and they were gray, with a touch of brown on the edges. I just wanted to render some of the fat out before I finished cooking them on a cast iron grill, but it would have been nice to be able to continue cooking them in there. I'm going to try preheating before giving up on meat. The meat would brown better if you didn't need to keep the lid on.
How do cupcakes and muffins come out? Someone mentioned they were too soft. So far I'm happy with making hard boiled eggs, grilled ham and cheese, pasta, pizza, and potato wedges. Couldn't get grill marks on the sausage I tried. Still experimenting. So much fun and so many new things to try!

Why?

I have never been able to get grill marks. I have done turkey burgers in 5 minutes, brown ground beef and turkey in 5 minutes. I have not had good luck with frozen foods. I am going to keep working with it, I think it will come in handy for some things. Oh it burned my corn dog. I don't think food with a batter will do very well as it seems to burn.

Made dinner in the slow cooker tonight- too hot out. Instead of heating up the oven (and kitchen) to cook a side of frozen potatoes, I cooked them for 8 minutes in the rangemate. Came out great! I want to try the flan next.

Scroll down to the grilling chart for meats - (power level: 700w)Hamburger Pattie - patties should be l/2 - 3/4" thick.Spray with cooking spray i would imagine because the booklet says to always use a spray, oil or a liquid. Grill patties 5-6 min., turn over and grill 2-3 min more.Always cover the grill while microwaving. For more well done, when cooking is complete, let sit in the grill awhile and it will cook more because the grill is still very hot.I also think the booklet with the original grill has more information.
BigOrangeKitty, thanks for posting that link - for anyone interested, page 9 has a "basic" guideline for grilling proteins, which IMHO should have been included in the Rangemate round version. (Won't allow me to cut & paste here.)
Anyhow, my micro is 950 watts and I've done (fresh) burgers and NY strips w/onions with a bit of olive oil and was pleased with the results. While I didn't get true grill marks, they both seared beautifully. Following the above guidelines, the burgers were a touch overdone and the NY strips a touch underdone, but I figure there's a learning curve here.
Worth it (for me) to avoid grease spatters everywhere! FWIW, I did not preheat the grill.
Looking forward to experimenting and thanks to all for sharing your experiences!
